Michael Wacha Expected Back In Mid-August
1 year agoSan Diego Padres right-hander Michael Wacha (shoulder) faced hitters for the first time since going on the injured list with shoulder fatigue by tossing two "innings" in a simulated game against minor-leaguers at Petco Park on Monday. "Felt good, velo was there," manager Bob Melvin said. "We'll see how he feels (Tuesday). And we'll probably have some plans on what's next." Wacha hasn't pitched in a game sine July 1 and he's expected to rejoin the starting rotation in mid-August, barring a setback. The veteran right-hander was excellent before going on the shelf, posting a 2.84 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 15 starts covering 85 2/3 innings, and he was the National League Pitcher of the Month in May.
