Mets Not Interested In Trading Pete Alonso
1 year agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is not expected to be traded ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. A recurring All-Star and Home Run Derby contestant, Alonso is slashing .218/.314/.506 with 30 homers, 9.2% walk rate, and 20.7% strikeout rate this season. He has produced 10.7 oWAR and would likely fetch a solid return if the Mets were to trade him. However, barring something unforeseen, Alonso will remain with New York for the rest of the season. He's under contract with the club for next year, too, and will hit free agency prior to the 2025 campaign. Regardless of what team Alonso is on, his power makes him a high-end option in fantasy baseball.
