Chris Sale To Start Rehab Assignment Tuesday
1 year agoBoston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale (shoulder) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday and will pitch three innings, according to manager Alex Cora. Sale is then expected to pitch again for Worcester next Sunday, Aug. 6. After that, the Red Sox will reassess his situation and decide if he'll be activated from the injured list. It's possible Sale could rejoin the starting rotation as soon as the team's home series against the Detroit Tigers, which begins on Aug. 11. Cora previously said Boston is considering activating Sale before his arm is fully built up in an effort to get him back quicker. That's not necessarily great news for fantasy managers, so they'll have to be careful when they decide to deploy him if he's not fully stretched out. The oft-injured 34-year-old is trying to return from a stress fracture in his scapula.
