Nestor Cortes Looks Good In Second Rehab Start
1 year agoNew York Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes (shoulder) looked sharp in his second minor-league rehab start on Friday for Double-A Somerset, throwing four scoreless innings over 49 pitches while allowing two hits, walking one and striking out five. The 28-year-old southpaw is expected to make his third and final rehab start at some point next week before rejoining New York's starting rotation in August. Before landing on the injured list, Cortes was 5-2 with a 5.16 ERA with 59 strikeouts over 59 1/3 innings over 11 starts. He wasn't as strong as he was when he was an All-Star in 2022, but Cortes thinks he can regain that form down the stretch this year as the Yankees look to get out of the cellar in the American League East.
