Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Thursday, July 27, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.
Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.

PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Shohei Ohtani more than 7.5 strikeouts
Ohtani has struck out at least eight batters in three of his previous five starts and has a relatively solid matchup against the Tigers in a day game, which you know I am a big fan of when it comes to strikeout numbers. Over the previous three weeks, the Tigers are striking out at a clip of 25.7% vs. right-handers, which ranks eighth-worst in baseball. Although not as strong on the road, Ohtani has posted an exceptional 11.1 K/9 when away from Los Angeles.
Justin Steele more than 5.5 strikeouts
Steele has been one of my favorite plays this season, especially against the Cardinals as he has struck out 17 of them across his previous 12 1/3 innings pitched. He has also struck out at least six batters in four of his previous five starts. Over the previous three weeks, the Cardinals are also posting the 11th-highest K rate vs. Southpaws with a rate of 25.4%.
Dylan Cease less than 6.0 strikeouts
This is probably the diciest of the day as we all know Cease is capable of striking out seven batters. That being said, the matchup is legit against the Guardians tonight, and this is evidenced by the fact that he has struck out just six Guardians over 12 1/3 innings pitched thus far in 2023. Over the previous three weeks, the Guardians have posted the lowest K rate vs. right-handed pitchers with a ridiculously low 15% rate. They have also picked up the bats recently as their wRC+ mark is over 100 across that same span. As of this writing at 6 AM EST, Cease is -135 to go over 5.5 on most books, so if this ticks down a tad, so will his line on PrizePicks.
Tanner Bibee than 6.0 strikeouts
Bibee has been solid lately as he has struck out at least seven batters in three of his previous five starts. Tonight, he will be up against the White Sox, who have basically given up on the season and are currently posting the fourth-highest K rate vs. right-handers with a rate of 27.2%. They are also posting just a 79 wRC+ mark and a 4.8% walk rate over that same span, which should give Bibee a solid opportunity to hit his number here.
