Fantasy Baseball Impact Of The Los Angeles Dodgers Acquiring Enrique Hernandez

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired veteran infielder and outfielder Enrique Hernandez from the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, per a tweet from the National League West club’s official Twitter account.

The Dodgers tweeted the following:

Hernandez is no stranger to the Dodgers, having played for the Los Angeles-based club from 2015 through the 2020 season. He’s struggled at the plate this season, batting .222 with a .279 on-base percentage, six home runs, and three stolen bases in 323 plate appearances for Boston, logging a .248 xwOBA and a 60 wRC+ in the process.

Having played shortstop, second base, and center field this season, the 31-year-old has a number of different avenues to see the field for the Dodgers; however, this is probably a situation to avoid for fantasy managers for the time being.

Because while Hernandez has struggled from a surface-level stats standpoint, he’s also logged some unideal underlying metrics.

The veteran is sporting a .197 xBA and a .295 xSLG. Both rank in the first percentile league-wide. His 33.8% hard-hit rate ranks a bit better in terms of percentile ranking compared to the rest of the league but is only in the 15^th percentile.
