Pirates Bringing Up Alika Williams
1 year agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates are bringing up middle-infield prospect Alika Williams from the minors on Tuesday. The 37th overall pick in the 2020 draft was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in the Robert Stephenson trade, and he had been killing it at Triple-A Indianapolis with a .305 batting average (39-for-128) with seven home runs, eight doubles, 20 RBI, three steals and 25 runs scored in 36 games. The 24-year-old can handle second base or shortstop, and he could see playing time at both middle-infield spots, especially now that Tucupita Marcano (knee) could miss extended time with an injury he suffered on Monday night. Williams is the team's No. 29 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and could be worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues if he sees enough playing time.
