Zach Neto Not In The Lineup On Sunday
Zach Neto (back) is absent from the lineup on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 22-year-old rookie missed Saturday's contest as well with lower back tightness so he's dealing with the same issue, apparently. The Angels have Monday off before hitting the road to kick off a three-game set against the Detroit Tigers so Neto should be good to go for that series. Andrew Velazquez is starting at shortstop on Sunday and batting ninth against Mitch Keller.

Zach Neto Hits Go-Ahead Home Run On Thursday
Zach Neto blasted an eighth-inning home run on Thursday evening off of Chase Shugart to give the Angels a 4-3 lead and help them salvage a win in their three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The home run was Neto's second of the season, as he was just activated off the injured list on April 18. On the evening, Neto went 3-for-5 and raised his average to .238. The young shortstop is off to a nice start to the season, slashing .238/.273/.619 with two home runs, four RBI, and four runs scored in 22 plate appearances. Last season, Neto had a significant increase in power, hitting 23 home runs compared to his nine in 2023, so he will look to keep that rolling in this year and is off to a good start with a few home runs in his first week back. Next up for the Angels is a road test against the Minnesota Twins. Neto will look to keep things rolling.

Zach Neto Hits His First Long Ball Of The 2025 MLB Season
Zach Neto was reinstated from the injured list and hit his first home run of the 2025 campaign in the fifth inning on Sunday against future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander in the Angels' 5-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Neto finished his afternoon by going 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, and he helped the Angels complete their ninth-inning comeback by scoring the winning run on Sunday. The home run was an excellent sign for Neto, as he hit 23 home runs in 2024, a career high for him at the MLB level and a vast improvement from the nine he hit in 2023, his rookie season. Up next for the Angels is an off day on Monday before a three-game series at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Zach Neto Reinstated From Injury List, Will Make Season Debut Friday
Zach Neto (shoulder) has been reinstated from the injury list and will be batting seventh in the Angels' lineup in their matchup against the San Francisco Giants. Neto underwent right shoulder surgery in November and has progressed through a rehab assignment for the past few weeks. The 24-year-old will look to show his 2024 season was a strong showing of who he can be at the plate after posting a 112 OPS+ and a 5.1 WAR. Fantasy managers need to make sure to grab him off the waiver wire if available as he will certainly provide long-term value in all fantasy leagues. DFS managers may want to wait for Neto to shake off the rust before he can provide DFS value.

Zach Neto Getting Close To A Return
Zach Neto (shoulder) went 2-for-5 with his fourth home run at Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday night while playing the whole game at shortstop. Neto is scheduled to play another full game at the 6 on Wednesday and could then be activated from the 10-day injured list as early as Thursday. However, the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher wouldn't be surprised if the Angels wait to bring Neto back until next Tuesday. The Halos wrap up their series in Texas against the division-rival Rangers on Thursday before heading home on Friday for a weekend series against the San Francisco Giants. At the latest, he'll make his season debut on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The former first-rounder has gone 13-for-45 (.289) in his 12 rehab games with the Bees and will be the Angels' starting shortstop when he's ready after hitting 23 homers and stealing 30 bases in 2024. UPDATE: Manager Ron Washington said the team hasn't discussed when Neto will return just yet.
