Anthony Volpe Not Starting Sunday
1 year agoNew York Yankees rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe will retreat to the bench on Sunday against the visiting Kansas City Royals. With Volpe getting a day of rest, Oswald Peraza will handle shortstop and will hit eighth in the batting order against Royals right-hander Jordan Lyles. Volpe has proven useful in fantasy in his first year in the big leagues thanks to 13 home runs and 17 stolen bases in 99 games (370 plate appearances), but he's certainly hurting fantasy managers' batting averages and on-base percentages. The 22-year-old is hitting just .210 (70-for-334) with a .282 OBP. Volpe does have hits in each of his last two games, but he's gone 5-for-43 (.116) with a homer, double, three RBI, 14 K's, a steal and six runs scored in his last 12 games.
