Corey Lajoie Hopeful For Best Pocono Finish After Strong Qualifying Effort
1 year agoOne driver who showed surprising speed during practice and qualifying at Pocono Raceway on Saturday afternoon was Corey Lajoie. In practice, Lajoie's No. 7 Chevrolet was 15th-fastest on the speed chart, and then in qualifying, he narrowly missed advancing to the final round. Lajoie will start from 12th-place in Sunday's HighPoint.com 400, his best-ever qualifying effort at this track (previously 21st). As far as finishing positions go, Lajoie posted his first-ever top-20 result at Pocono last year when he came home in 19th-place. It's nowhere near a sure bet, but with an average result of 20.4 this season, it's definitely possible that Lajoie contends for a career-best finish at Pocono on Sunday.
