The Arizona Cardinals' fifth-round pick has an opportunity to be a starter when the 2023 season begins.
Former Cougar Clayton Tune started his college campaign slowly. However, he managed to get things going towards the end of those seasons, contributing to a productive college career.
There are questions about his arm strength and footwork. Also whether these issues contributed to consistency and accuracy issues. Should those inconsistencies keep you from drafting Clayton Tune if Kyler Murray isn't ready by Week 1? Let's dig in and find out!

Will Kyler Murray Be Ready By Week 1?
The consensus is that Kyler Murray will not be ready by Week 1, setting up Colt McCoy as the starter. Quarterbacks David Blough and Jeff Driskel are options for the Cardinals as well. They both bring experience and starts to the table. Blough started two games for the Cardinals last year.
The dark horse of the group is Tune, who presents a much more mobile option for offensive coordinator Drew Petzing. Starting a quarterback that can run will give Petzing a solid look at how things might go when (and if) Kyler returns.
Is It Worth Drafting Clayton Tune If Kyler Murray Isn't Ready for Week 1?
Colt McCoy's neck injury, sustained last season, could keep him from being ready at the start of the season. This leaves Arizona Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon and offensive coordinator Drew Petzing to sift through their other three QBs.
With Murray being unlikely to play the entire season, the Cardinals are missing pieces (QB, center) that could make their roster ready to win. If the Cardinals choose to write off the season, it would be an excellent opportunity to start Tune and see what they have in the young QB.
Given the veteran McCoy's likely return from his neck injury and Murray's eventual return to the field, there's no guarantee Tune would play extended time. However, the Cardinals will take their time bringing Murray back, which could give Tune several weeks to show the Cardinals what he can do.
Excitement is building about the 6'2, 220-pound prospect from Plano, Texas. Tune's athleticism and running ability make him an intriguing quarterback option for the Cardinals. They will have more time than expected to evaluate Tune and see how he does in the NFL.
If Tune is available in the later rounds of your draft or you are able to pick him up on waivers, he is undoubtedly worth drafting.
