Jose Trevino To Have Season-Ending Surgery
1 year agoNew York Yankees catcher Jose Trevino (wrist), who was placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a right-wrist tear, will need season-ending surgery. Trevino said his wrist had been an issue dating back to spring training. He thought he could play through the pain, but he's reached the point where he needs to get it fixed. Trevino expects to be ready for spring training next year. In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled catcher Ben Rortvedt from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Trevino will finish the year hitting just .210 with four home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored in 157 at-bats. Kyle Higashioka will remain New York's primary backstop, with Rortvedt serving as his backup moving forward.
