Mets Calling Up Mark Vientos
1 year agoThe New York Mets are calling up rookie designated hitter Mark Vientos from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday to replace outfielder Starling Marte, who was put on the 10-day injured list due to migraines, according to a source. The 23-year-old Vientos had just eight hits in 45 at-bats (.178) with a homer and five RBI for the Mets in 16 games early this year. He's really struggled in 32 games at the major-league level the last two years, sporting a .173/.244/.259 slash line with two long balls, a double, eight RBI and five runs scored in 90 plate appearances. However, he was hitting .307 with a 1.000 OPS, 16 home runs and 50 RBI in 60 games for Syracuse this year.
