2 years agoNBC Sports Boston's Tom Curran said on The Rich Eisen Show on Monday that New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is on the hot seat entering the 2023 season. Belichick didn't have a viable plan for the offense when offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels left last year, which caused big-time regression for the offense as a whole and second-year quarterback Mac Jones. Curran also suggests that Belichick has been somewhat on the hot seat since midway through the 2019 season. The Patriots won't necessarily need to make the postseason for Belichick to avoid getting the axe, but the offense must improve, as well as Belichick's relationship with Jones. If Belichick is fired after the 2023 season, Curran believes Jerod Mayo would be his replacement. Owner Robert Kraft has been intensely dissatisfied with the results for the Patriots over the last several seasons.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
