Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Tuesday, July 18, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.
Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.
PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Aaron Nola less than 7.0 strikeouts
I am typically a fan of Nola, and he is capable of striking out eight batters, however, he has only managed to eclipse this number in one of his previous four starts and in three of his previous nine. He will be up against the Brewers, who are posting the 12th-best K rate vs. right-handers over the previous two weeks with a rate of 21.8%. They are also posting a very solid 12.6% walk rate vs. righties, which could get Nola into trouble as he is currently averaging well over two walks per nine innings pitched.
Joe Musgrove more than 5.5 strikeouts
Musgrove has a tough matchup against the Blue Jays as they are posting the third-best K rate vs. right-handers over the previous two weeks, however, he should still be able to eclipse this number. Musgrove has struck out at least six batters in each of his previous four starts, two of which have come against stiff competition in terms of K rates vs. the Mets and Nationals.
Anthony DeSclafani more than 3.5 strikeouts
We have a revenge matchup for DeSclafani tonight and it could not come at a more opportune time. Currently, the Reds are posting the second-highest k rate vs. righties over the previous two weeks with a rate of 28.9%. They are also posting a lackluster 76 wRC+ mark over this same span. Meanwhile, DeSclafani has struck out four or more in nine total starts this season and has done it in two of his previous four starts while missing it barely in two of those starts.
Tarik Skubal more than 5.0 strikeouts
This will be my first Tarik Skubal sighting of the season, so let's see how this goes. Skubal has looked solid over his first two starts while striking out 11 across eight innings pitched and allowing no earned runs. Tonight, he will be up against the Royals, who are posting the second-highest K rate vs. left-handers over the previous three weeks with a rate of 27.8%. Skubal should continue to increase his pitch count in this one and has a solid shot of getting over the hump here.
