Tony Pollard Expected To Play On Franchise Tag
1 year agoDallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard is reportedly willing to play the 2023 NFL season on the franchise tag signed back in March, so there will be no drama or risk of a holdout leading up to Week 1. Pollard broke out last season with an expanded role, rushing for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns on 193 carries and catching 39 passes for 371 yards and three receiving scores. Despite sharing time with Ezekiel Elliott for much of the 2022 campaign, Pollard posted an RB8 overall finish in PPR formats. The 26-year-old ball carrier will earn $10.1 million this season with the tag and will operate as the lead back for the high-powered Cowboys' offense. There is speculation that Elliott could sign back with the team on a cheap deal, but Pollard should see career highs in all statistical categories -- assuming he stays healthy. He is being priced around the RB7 spot in PPR leagues, but his ceiling is a top-three finish at the position in 2023.
