Panthers Offer Brian Burns A New Contract
1 year agoAccording to Darin Gantt of Panthers.com, Carolina made a contract offer to defensive end Brian Burns. The 28-year-old aspires to become one of the highest earners at the position, something he's been vocal about throughout the offseason. He's certainly made a good case for himself, considering he finished last season by amassing a career-high 12.5 sacks, increasing his total to 38 since joining the league. Burns is entering the final year of his rookie deal. He's also recovering from offseason ankle surgery. However, the 2019 No. 16 overall pick should remain a top IDP fantasy option, assuming he is fully healthy for training camp and stays that way moving ahead. Burns is slotted to earn a base salary of just over $16 million in 2023-24, with the Panthers potentially using the franchise tag if both parties can't reach an agreement.
