Nestor Cortes Expects To Rejoin Rotation First Week In August
1 year agoNew York Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes (shoulder) threw 20 pitches in a live batting practice session at Yankee Stadium on July 9 and said he "definitely didn't feel any pain," noting his work to correct his arm path and increase mobility seems to be working. He threw another live BP session at the team's spring training complex on July 13 without any issues. The 28-year-old southpaw is scheduled to throw to live hitters again on Monday, and manager Aaron Boone said after that, Cortes will likely begin a minor-league rehab assignment. Barring setbacks, Cortes expects to rejoin the starting rotation in the first week of August. He's been on the 15-day injured list since June 8 with a left rotator-cuff strain, and he thinks it may have been caused by hurrying back from a spring hamstring injury.
