Yoan Moncada Starts Rehab Assignment
1 year agoChicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (back) started his minor-league rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Charlotte. Moncada hasn't played much this year due to injuries and was last seen on a major-league field on June 13, so expect him to have a rather lengthy rehab assignment before returning to the White Sox. The 28-year-old Cuban switch-hitter also wasn't thriving at the plate before his injury, slashing .232/.279/.370 with three home runs, eight doubles, a triple, 13 RBI and 17 runs scored in 147 plate appearances over 38 games. Jake Burger, who has mostly benefitted from playing time at third with Moncada sidelined, has 19 long balls, but he's also hitting .220 (53-for-241) with 88 K's in 263 plate appearances.
