The Indianapolis Colts have had a different Week 1 starting quarterback in each season since 2016, and 2023 will be no different. The team drafted Anthony Richardson to be its franchise quarterback, but veteran Gardner Minshew could get the starting nod early on while he develops.
In two-QB and superflex formats, both signal-callers are worth keeping an eye on, but fantasy managers in single-QB formats will be waiting for Richardson to get the starting job.
Will Minshew or Richardson be the Colts' Week 1 starter? What are their fantasy outlooks for 2023?

Will Anthony Richardson or Gardner Minshew Start in Week 1?
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay hinted that quarterback Gardner Minshew could start over rookie Anthony Richardson early in the 2023 season, although Irsay also stressed the importance of getting Richardson on the field in his rookie campaign. "For Anthony, we know it's going to be tough. But he has to play to get better. There's no question. Gardner could play better early on, him just being a veteran. But we have to get Anthony on the field. That's Shane's call when he decides," Irsay said.
Richardson, the No. 4 overall pick in this year's draft, is expected to need plenty of development before he reaches his ceiling
Anthony Richardson Fantasy Football Outlook?
When Richardson does earn the starting nod, he could have immediate fantasy upside thanks to his elite rushing profile. Even if it takes him time to become a proficient passer, he should be a top-five scrambler at the position the second he steps on the field. A QB1 season isn't out of the question, but it's far from a certainty.
If Minshew starts early on, he'll have a low-end QB2 outlook and will only carry much value in superflex or two-QB formats. The pass-catching group in Indianapolis has a stud in Michael Pittman Jr., but the rest of the group figures to be unspectacular.
