Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams had a promising rookie season before suffering a torn ACL as a sophomore in 2022. The former North Carolina Tarheel is still just 23 years old, but he'll carry plenty of injury worries into his 2023 campaign.
However, after a long offseason of speculations, there's a positive update on his status ahead of Week 1 in early September.
Is Williams healthy or injured and what is his 2023 fantasy football outlook? Let's get into it.

Javonte Williams Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Williams (knee) recently spoke to reporters at teammate Patrick Surtain II's football camp. He revealed he's continuously worked with the Broncos' training staff since the conclusion of the offseason program. Even better, Williams is optimistic he'll be cleared in time for training camp while adding he feels "ready to go."
Several Broncos' beat writers have speculated that he could be ready for Week 1, but there will be plenty of more updates as training camp beings and the offseason progresses to its final stages.
For now, Williams, Broncos fans, and fantasy managers are holding out hope for him to be available sooner than later.
Javonte Williams 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
While Williams is being optimistic, it's important to take his status update with a grain of salt. Perhaps he will avoid the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to begin the season, but he could still miss a game or two. Even if he's ready for Week 1, Denver will likely limit his workload mightily, setting up Samaje Perine for an enhanced role.
For now, fantasy managers should still be cautious when considering drafting Williams, but if everything goes right, he could prove to be a great value at the end of the season. He has a wide range of outcomes, and it's tough to know what we can expect out of him until there are further updates.
That said, Williams has the tackle-breaking and pass-catching skill set to be a major factor in 2023 if he's healthy and the Broncos' offense bounces back under Sean Payton.
