Boston Red Sox star Trevor Story has yet to play this season. The second baseman underwent internal brace surgery this past offseason and is very close to returning to action. The initial concern following the surgery was that Story would miss the entire season due to the injury, but that is no longer the case.
Story, a first-round pick in 2011, impressed everyone with the Colorado Rockies before signing a six-year, $140 million contract with the Boston Red Sox last season. He didn't have a great first year with the AL East club due to injuries, but there is hope that he will improve this year.
In this article, we will discuss the timeline for Story's return from injury and the impact that could have on both the fantasy managers and the Red Sox.

When will Trevor Story return to Red Sox's lineup?
According to recent reports, Trevor Story will begin his rehab assignment next week. The 30-year-old second baseman hopes to play for the Boston Red Sox in August, and if everything goes well during his rehab assignment, we will most likely see him in action next month.
Last season, Story played only 94 games in which he batted .238 with 85 hits, 16 home runs, 66 RBIs, and 53 runs scored. He had an on-base percentage of .303 and a .737 OPS. If he is fully healthy, we can expect the former Rockies player to put up better numbers in the remaining games this season.
Red Sox need Trevor Story to make a push for the playoffs
Heading into the All-Star break, the Boston Red Sox are 48-43, and despite being in last place in the AL East, they are just three games back of a wildcard spot. Both Story and Chris Sale are expected to play in August, and that gives the Red Sox a great chance of making a push for the playoffs.
They've won eight of their last nine games and will take on the Chicago Cubs in a three-game series starting on July 14. With key players returning soon from injury, the Red Sox find themselves in a great position.
