Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper was the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. Cooper had an excellent college career, totaling 228 receptions for 3,463 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns at Alabama.
The former Alabama star had a productive rookie season, totaling 72 receptions on 130 targets for 1,070 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Cooper spent 3.5 years with the Raiders, totaling 225 receptions on 389 targets for 3,183 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns in 52 games.
Oakland traded the star wide receiver to the Dallas Cowboys during the 2018 season. Cooper spent 3.5 years with the Cowboys, totaling 292 receptions for 429 targets for 3,893 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns in 56 games. Unfortunately, Dallas had to trade away the veteran receiver last offseason, sending him to the Browns.

What Did Amari Cooper Accomplish In 2022?
Cooper was a welcomed addition in Cleveland. The team lost Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry over the previous six months and had a significant need at the wide receiver position. However, fantasy players were nervous about drafting the former Alabama star over the quarterback situation.
While the Browns recently traded for Deshaun Watson, the star quarterback had an 11-game suspension hanging over his head. That meant Jacoby Brissett would be the starting quarterback until Watson’s suspension ended.
Yet, the star wide receiver ended last season with 78 receptions on 132 targets for 1,160 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Cooper had the sixth-most receiving touchdowns in the NFL last season. More importantly, he was the WR10, averaging 12.2 half-point PPR fantasy points per game in 2022.
Will Amari Cooper Be A Top-12 Fantasy Wide Receiver In 2023?
Fantasy players should be encouraged by the veteran’s fantasy production last season. Cooper was the WR8, averaging 13.5 fantasy points per game during the 12 weeks Brissett was the starting quarterback. While his production tailed off after Watson returned to the team, there is no reason why the star receiver won’t be better with the franchise quarterback this year.
Cooper led the Browns with 132 targets last season. Furthermore, he had 36 more targets than any other player on the team. However, Cleveland added multiple wide receivers during the offseason, headlined by Elijah Moore. Reportedly the third-year receiver has been outstanding during OTAs and minicamp.
While fantasy players should feel confident drafting Cooper at his current ADP, the veteran receiver is unlikely to have a top-12 finish in 2023.
