DL Hall Still Regaining Strength In Florida
1 year agoBaltimore Orioles pitching prospect DL Hall (back) was sent back to Sarasota, Fla., last weekend with the goal of gaining strength and velocity after a back injury that he suffered during spring training. The young left-hander is known for a high-octane fastball, but his average velocity at Triple-A Norfolk this year has been only 93.5 mph. With the O's earlier in 2023, he averaged 96.2 mph with his heater. The 24-year-old southpaw will still take part in live-game situations and throwing sessions at the team's spring training complex, but most of his time will be spent in the weight room. The team's No. 9 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has improved his secondary pitches as a result of his drop in fastball velocity, but the latest development will push his return to Baltimore back.
