Blaze Jordan, Wikelman Gonzalez Being Promoted To Double-A
Blaze Jordan and right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez to Double-A Portland after this week's All-Star break. Jordan's promotion comes after he hit .324/.385/.533 with a .918 OPS, 12 homers, 22 doubles, a triple, 55 RBI and 48 runs scored in 73 games for High-A Greenville. Meanwhile, Gonzalez had a 5.14 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 42 walks and 105 K's in 63 innings over 15 starts at the same level. Jordan, the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is still only 20 years old, so he still has some more developing to do down on the farm and probably isn't a candidate to make his big-league debut until 2024, at the earliest. Gonzalez, 21, uses a three-pitch mix of a fastball, curve and changeup, but he'll need to throw more strikes in Double-A. He's the team's No. 11 prospect.

The former 2020 draft pick is ranked as the number 19 prospect in the Boston system on MLB.com and is projected to reach the majors sometime next season. He could become a name to stash in dynasty leagues if he continues to perform well at Double-A and reach Triple-A later this season.

Blaze Jordan Riding Nine-Game Hit Streak At Double-A
Blaze Jordan went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored for Double-A Portland on Sunday, extending his current hit streak to nine games. After beginning the season 3-for-29 (.103) through eight games, the 21-year-old has gone 15-for-39 (.385) over his next nine games, including five multi-hit efforts in his last six. Jordan was a third-round draft pick in 2020 and is expected to reach the majors by 2025 per MLB.com. The right-handed hitter had 18 home runs in 2023 over 122 games between High-A and Double-A, but with his profile, that was a bit under expectation and he's got just two so far in 2024. As long as he keeps on hitting like this though, the home runs should come. Dynasty managers in need of power production should keep tabs on Jordan for signs that the home run stroke is continuing to develop.
