Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was the 41st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Taylor had an outstanding college career, totaling 926 rushing attempts for 6,174 yards and 50 touchdowns in his three years at Wisconsin. He also had 42 receptions for 407 receiving yards and two touchdowns in college.
Taylor was a fantasy star as a rookie. He was the RB6 in 2020, averaging 15.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. The rookie ended the year with 232 rushing attempts for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns.
More importantly, the former Wisconsin star became a fantasy superstar in 2021. Taylor was the RB1 that year, averaging 20.8 fantasy points per game. He had 332 rushing attempts for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns that season, all career highs. Furthermore, the superstar led the NFL in all three categories.

What Did Jonathan Taylor Accomplish In 2022?
Following two top-six finishes in the first two years of his career, fantasy players had high expectations for Taylor last season. Unfortunately, the former Wisconsin star was a fantasy bust. He ended the year as the RB34, averaging 12 fantasy points per game. The veteran had 192 rushing attempts for 861 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games last year.
There were two reasons why the former Wisconsin star was a fantasy bust last season. The first was the team’s dysfunctional offense. Carson Wentz had 27 passing touchdowns and only seven interceptions with the Colts in 2021. By comparison, Matt Ryan, Nick Foles, and Sam Ehlinger had 17 passing touchdowns and 20 interceptions last season. The lack of a consistent passing attack impacted Taylor’s production.
The second reason the superstar struggled last year was injuries. Taylor dealt with multiple injuries, including a severe high ankle sprain in Week 15, costing him the final three games last season.
Is Jonathan Taylor Injured Or Healthy?
Unfortunately, the Week 15 injury was so severe that Taylor needed surgery in the offseason. However, owner Jim Irsay says the superstar running back is healed up and ready to go for training camp in a few weeks.
Unless the veteran running back looks sluggish or injured during trading camp, fantasy players should feel confident using a first-round pick on Taylor.
