1 year agoThe Los Angeles Angels picked Florida Atlantic's Nolan Schanuel with the 11th overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft. Schanuel becomes the highest draft pick from Florida Atlantic in its history, besting C.J. Chatham, who was selected 51st overall in 2016. Schanuel is an elite hitter that profiles best at first base, but he could work at left field. In 2023, the slugger posted an incredible .447/.615/.868 line with 19 home runs and a 71/14 BB/K ratio. In his college career Schanuel posted a .516 on-base and a 138/57 BB/K. He could continue the Angels' run of getting the first player from a draft to the majors, as he should move quickly through the minors.--Benjamin Chase
