Abner Uribe Called Up By Brewers
1 year agoThe Milwaukee Brewers called up right-handed pitching prospect Abner Uribe from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. He's listed as the team's No. 9 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and will get his first taste of the majors after sporting an impressive 1.96 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, seven saves, 16 walks and 41 strikeouts in 23 innings over 22 relief appearances for Double-A Biloxi and Nashville this year. Uribe has touched 103 mph on the radar gun with his fastball, so he has a live arm. The 23-year-old has quickly risen up Milwaukee's farm system, although he probably isn't going to be on the fantasy radar in what will likely be a middle-relief role to close out the first half of the 2023 season. But if Uribe continues to excel in the big leagues, he could be put into a high-leverage bullpen role sooner than later.
