1 year agoChicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson (heel) remains out of the starting lineup against the New York Yankees in the Bronx on Friday. Nico Hoerner is starting at short and batting leadoff, while Christopher Morel will draw the start at the keystone and hit fifth against Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon, who is making his 2023 debut. Swanson injured his left heel on Wednesday and will miss his second straight day, but he could return to close out the first half of the season on either Saturday or Sunday. In his first year in Chicago, Swanson is slashing .258/.343/.409 with 10 homers, 15 doubles, two triples, 36 RBI, four stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 83 games. He's off to a poor start in July, going 4-for-22 with a homer and RBI in five games played so far.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
