2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman (wrist) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday. The 28-year-old came off the bench on Thursday after being scratched from Wednesday's game. The good news is, the MRI came back clean, so Edman isn't dealing with anything too serious. The Cardinals will give him some extra time to recover with the All-Star break quickly approaching. The expectation is that he'll return shortly after the break. In a corresponding move, infielder Jose Fermin has been recalled from Triple-A Memphis.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoLos Angeles Dodgers second baseman Tommy Edman hit his first homer of the year in the Dodgers 6-3 win over the Cubs on Wednesday in Tokyo, Japan. It's certainly a good start to the season for the infielder, who also logged an RBI single in the first game of the Tokyo Series on Tuesday. He had a limited but productive debut season with the Dodgers in 2024, slashing .237/.294/.417 with six home runs, 20 RBI, 20 runs, and six stolen bases in 37 games. He has some sleeper appeal in this loaded Los Angeles lineup as he hopes to return to the form he showed from 2021 to 2023. He tallied double-digit home runs and at least 27 steals in each of those three seasons, which is a very valuable skillset for fantasy.--Jeremy Heist - RotoBaller

4 months agoSuper utilityman Tommy Edman and the Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a five-year, $74 million contract extension on Friday, according to sources. The deal runs from 2025 through the 2029 season and includes a sixth-year team option. There's also a $17 million signing bonus and deferred money included. The 29-year-old started the 2024 season with the St. Louis Cardinals but didn't make his season debut until midway through August after he had already been traded to the Dodgers. The former sixth-round pick of the Cardinals in 2016 out of Stanford played both center field and shortstop for the Blue on their way to a World Series title, and he was named the National League Championship Series MVP against the Mets. In 37 regular-season games, Edman hit .237/.294/.417 with a .711 OPS, six homers, 20 RBI and six steals. The switch-hitter is better against lefties and should be an everyday player in 2025.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

5 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers utility man Tommy Edman went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in Game 2 of the World Series. Edman has now tallied at least one hit in each of the past eight games and tallied at least two hits in each of the past five. Throughout October, Edman has been one of the most consistent bats in the Dodger lineup as he currently holds a stellar .365/.358/.577 slash line with two home runs, 13 RBI, and four stolen bases. His impressive 11 RBI during the NLDS earned him MVP honors in that series. The veteran utility man will continue to be a popular pick in DFS contests given his incredible stretch on Monday evening when he faces Yankee right-hander Clarke Schmidt.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

5 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Tommy Edman was named the NLCS MVP after a series-clinching Game 6 win over the New York Mets. Edman had another big game to seal the honor, going 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, a double, two runs scored, and four RBI. The 29-year-old was an RBI machine in this series, driving in 11 runs over the six games. He also batted .407 and scored five runs. There was some tough competition with the Dodgers' star-studded lineup, but Edman proved himself worthy even if he isn't as big of a name. Los Angeles has to be pretty happy with their mid-season acquisition of Edman.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller
