Dansby Swanson Leaves Game Early Wednesday
1 year agoChicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson (heel) left Wednesday's game early against the Milwaukee Brewers in the seventh inning with a left-heel contusion. He was replaced at shortstop by Nico Hoerner. Before leaving, Swanson went 0-for-3 at the plate to drop his season average to .258. It doesn't appear to be a very serious injury, but with just four games left in the first half of the season before the All-Star break, there's a chance Swanson won't play until the start of the second half. The 29-year-old starting shortstop came into Wednesday's contest hitting .261 (84-for-322) with 10 home runs, 15 doubles, two triples, 36 RBI, four steals and 41 runs scored in 82 games in his first year in Chicago. Hoerner should man the 6 for however long Swanson is out, if at all.
