Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. was a second-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2021 NFL Draft. Marshall had 106 receptions for 1,594 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns during his three years at LSU.
Unfortunately, his NFL career hasn’t gotten off to the ideal start. Marshall had only 17 receptions on 30 targets for 138 receiving yards and zero touchdowns as a rookie. Meanwhile, the former LSU receiver had 28 receptions on 47 targets for 490 receiving yards and a touchdown in 2022.
Despite having a quiet first two years in the NFL, Marshall could turn things around this season. The Panthers traded former No. 1 wide receiver DJ Moore to the Chicago Bears this offseason in a deal for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Marshall could have a larger role this year with Moore off the roster.

Is Terrace Marshall Jr. The Panthers WR2?
Last year’s starting wide receivers are no longer with the team. Instead, the Panthers made multiple moves this offseason to improve their wide receiver core. The first move was signing Adam Thielen. After losing Moore in the trade, Carolina needed a proven veteran to take over as their No. 1 wide receiver.
However, the Panthers didn’t stop there. The team also signed DJ Chark Jr. and Damiere Byrd in free agency. While Thielen should be the No. 1 wide receiver for the Panthers, Chark is the early favorite for the No. 2 role.
Yet, that won’t stop Marshall or the rookie Jonathan Mingo from pushing the veterans for a starting role. Thielen has lost a step over the past few years. Meanwhile, Chark has been inconsistent throughout his career.
Is Terrace Marshall Jr. Worth Drafting In 2023?
The third-year receiver has been impressive this offseason. Furthermore, Marshall appears to be in great shape and focused on making an impact in new head coach Frank Reich's offense.
However, fantasy players must wonder what the team's target breakdown will be this season. Thielen likely holds onto the No. 1 role, given his experience and red zone abilities. Yet, Marshall could steal the No. 2 job from Chark.
While the third-year receiver and the rookie have been impressive this offseason, fantasy players should be cautious with the Carolina receiving core. Marshall isn't worth drafting right now. However, he could become a must-add Week 1 waiver wire target.
