Anthony Rizzo Returns Saturday
1 year agoNew York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (elbow) is back in the starting lineup on Saturday against right-hander Jack Flaherty and the St. Louis Cardinals for Game 1 of a doubleheader. Rizzo is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup. The 33-year-old left-handed slugger was hit in the elbow by a pitch on Thursday against the Oakland Athletics and was set to be held out of Friday's game against St. Louis before the game was postponed due to inclement weather. Rizzo may not play in both games of the double dip on Saturday, but it's great news that he's back in there for Game 1. Fantasy managers will be hoping he can turn the page quickly in July, as Rizzo hit just .173 (13-for-75) with no homers in the month of June. He hasn't gone deep since May 20.
