1 year agoToronto Blue Jays left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu (elbow) will start his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday, July 4, in either the Florida Complex League or Single-A. Ryu's velocity has been up to 88 mph, so he has a ways to go still, but he's lost 30 pounds and apparently is in "phenomenal" shape. Barring any setbacks on his rehab assignment, he's likely a month away from returning to the Blue Jays. The 36-year-old southpaw is finally nearing a return after having Tommy John surgery, and he'll be making his 2023 debut whenever he gets into a game at the major-league level. There's no guarantee that Ryu will return to the starting rotation immediately, though, so fantasy managers in mixed leagues will probably want to take a wait-and-see approach.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
