Nestor Cortes Throws Bullpen Friday
1 year agoNew York Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Friday before the team's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Cortes has been on the injured list for three weeks with a left rotator-cuff strain, and he's just now back to throwing bullpen sessions. The next step will be facing live hitters before a minor-league rehab assignment, but there probably isn't enough time for him to return to New York's starting rotation before the All-Star break in mid-July. After making his first All-Star appearance in 2022, the 28-year-old southpaw has struggled a bit this year to the tune of a 5.16 ERA (4.59 FIP), 1.29 WHIP, 19 walks and 59 strikeouts in 59 1/3 innings over his 11 starts.
