Jonah Heim Getting A Breather Against Tigers
1 year agoTexas Rangers catcher Jonah Heim will be given the day off on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers. Heim will get a day to rest after serving as the starting catcher for each of the team's last five games. He went 6-for-19 (.316) in those five contests with a homer, RBI, double and a run scored in 21 plate appearances. The 28-year-old switch-hitting backstop has been one of the better offensive catchers for fantasy managers so far in 2023, as he's slashing .279/.331/.469 with an .800 OPS, 11 home runs, 17 doubles, 55 RBI and 39 runs scored in 284 plate appearances and 71 games. He's five homers shy of the career-high 16 homers he hit in 2022. Mitch Garver is doing the catching and batting eighth on Thursday against Tigers right-hander Reese Olson.
