2 years agoVegas Golden Knights forward Ivan Barbashev has signed a five-year extension with the team just a few days before being eligible to hit unrestricted free agency. The deal will be worth $5 million annually. Getting a signature from Barbashev was one of the priorities for the Golden Knights this summer after the 27-year-old played a big role in the team's Stanley Cup triumph. The Russian forward tallied seven goals and 18 points in 22 games during the championship run. After coming over from St. Louis in February, Barbashev found himself a comfortable spot in Vegas next to Jack Eichel on the top line and went on to grab 16 points in 23 regular-season appearances. He now looks set to be a vital part of the Golden Knights' top six for the foreseeable future.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 month agoVegas Golden Knights left wing Ivan Barbashev tallied four points during their 7-5 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday evening. Barbashev tallied his first point in the opening frame on a secondary assist on Nicholas Hague's goal. Later in this frame, Barbashev found the back of the net on the power-play. In the second, Barbashev tallied the primary helper on Keegan Kolesar's strike. Then in the final frame, Barbashev found the back of the net, this time on a tip-in during 5-on-5 play. Entering this contest, Barbashev tallied two points (one goal) over his last four contests. Over his last 12 games, Barbashev has tallied nine points and held a strong +9 rating. He remains a solid option in deeper formats during his recent surge. He will look to continue this offensive production on Sunday against the New Jersey Devils.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

3 months agoVegas Golden Knights forward Ivan Barbashev (upper body) is on track to return to the lineup on Saturday against the Rangers. Barbashev was a full participant in Friday's practice and has been activated from Injured Reserve. He has missed nearly a month of action, sitting out 10 games. Despite the long absence, Barbashev shares the team lead in goals with 15 and has had a good scoring rate on the first line this season. The Russian forward has bagged 30 points in 31 games. Tanner Pearson is expected to drop back to the fourth line with Barbashev's return.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 months agoVegas Golden Knights forwards Ivan Barbashev (upper body) and Nicolas Roy (upper body) will remain out for Monday's contest against Anaheim. Both players are unavailable for a third consecutive game. Pavel Dorofeyev has enjoyed first-line usage during Barbashev's absence but will skate on the third line on Monday, with Victor Olofsson elevated to the top line. On Monday, a line shakeup will also see Keegan Kolesar join the top six. Kolesar is fresh off a two-point game, while Olofsson has also recently enjoyed a good offensive spell, averaging a point per game across his last five appearances.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 months agoVegas Golden Knights forward Ivan Barbashev (upper body) will be sidelined for Thursday's clash against Vancouver. Barbashev suffered an upper-body injury on Sunday versus Minnesota and hasn't been able to practice this week. The 29-year-old lands on the shelf after amassing 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in 31 games. With Barbashev unavailable, Pavel Dorofeyev is expected to join Jack Eichel and Mark Stone on the first line. Dorofeyev has had a decent campaign with 12 goals and 18 points in 31 appearances. He'll have additional fantasy value as long as Barbashev remains out.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
