Domingo German Makes History Wednesday Night
1 year agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German accomplished what only 23 other pitchers have ever done in the history of the game on Wednesday night when he tossed a perfect game in the 11-0 win over the Oakland Athletics. In doing so, he struck out nine of the 27 batters he faced. What a turnaround it was after the 30-year-old right-hander allowed 17 runs (15 earned) in his last two starts over 5 1/3 innings against the Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners. The amazing effort lowered his ERA on the year to 4.54 through 15 starts this year. German was the first pitcher in MLB to throw a perfect game since former Mariners ace Felix Hernandez did it in August of 2012. He'll face a tough matchup against the Baltimore Orioles in his next outing.
