Welcome to our PrizePicks PGA DFS prop picks for the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic (Round 1). The 2023 PGA Tour season is in full swing, and to celebrate, PrizePicks has an extensive selection of PGA props to take advantage of! PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or singular stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best and easiest-to-win PGA DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit of up to $100.
This week, we're at Detroit Golf Club for the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic! Although this event doesn't have the elevated status of the Travelers last week, it still features a roster of 10 of the world's top 30, as well as three of the most promising youngsters in the game. At one of the biggest birdie parties of the year, there is plenty on the line for the winner of this shootout. I and the entire Rotoballer PGA staff have put out 1,000s of words on the course, key stats, and field this week, so this article won't be focused on the minutiae of projecting outright winners or DFS pivot plays. Instead, I'll be solely focused on a few money-making opportunities I've found in PrizePicks' unique markets to help you build your bankroll as the PGA Tour season gets into full swing! Today's plays are specifically for round one on Thursday, June 15.

Collin Morikawa MORE than 14.0 Greens in Regulation
Last week, we found a bit of an edge in the Birdies or Better matchup department, but this week, I see some potential edges when projecting Greens in Regulation. In its four-year history, Detroit Golf Club has surrendered a GIR % of nearly 73% (5th highest on Tour). That would equate to the average player hitting a fraction over 13/18 greens on average. However, that doesn't bring into account the conditions expected this week in the Motor City. Detroit has received over an inch of rain since Sunday night, and as a result, the course is playing about as soft as you'll ever see on the PGA Tour. With greens this receptive, players will have an immense amount of confidence when controlling their approach shots, and I'd expect the GIR % to jump significantly early in the week while the course is still soaked.
That doesn't even take into account the player in question: Collin Morikawa. Although some very fair questions can be asked about his ability to make enough putts to keep up with the breakneck pace projected this week, nothing can be said about his acumen with an iron in his hand. Morikawa leads this field not just in GIR % over his last 24 rounds, but also over his last 50 and 100 rounds as well. Despite some "struggles" over the last few months, Collin still rates out as a Top 10 overall iron player in this field (7th in SG: APP; 5th in Birdie Chances Created L24 Rounds). Right off the back of a (-7) 63 last Friday at Travelers, I expect him to wake up and pepper these flagsticks Thursday morning.
Rickie Fowler MORE than 5.0 Birdies or Better
I typically like to stay away from players I already have significant investments in (see: Flag Hunting PGA Betting Picks), but Rickie Fowler is once again going underappreciated in the PrizePicks prop market. Fowler (along with last week's winner Keegan Bradley), has absolutely lapped this field in Birdie or Better Percentage over the last three months, and he's one of only three players to rate inside the top ten in both Birdie Chances Created and SG: Putting.
To those who are somehow still doubting him, let me confirm to everyone that this recent resurgence from Rickie is no fluke. Over the last three months, only Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele, and Patrick Cantlay have performed better than Fowler on a per-round basis, and on a golf course with four Par 5's (1st in Par 5 Scoring), and a bevy of wedge opportunities into soft, receptive greens, he should have many, many opportunities to fly by this projection of 5.0.
Other Recommendations
- Tony Finau MORE than 14.0 Greens in Regulation
- Tom Kim MORE than 14.o Greens in Regulation
- Tom Hoge LESS than Austin Eckroat - Birdies or Better Matchup
Overall recommendation for this play: Power Play
