2 years agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins is back in the starting lineup Wednesday night against the visiting Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Luke Weaver. Mullins started three straight games after returning from an injured list stint due to a groin injury and made two trips to the plate as a pinch-hitter on Tuesday but returns to the starting group on Wednesday. Injury aside, the 28-year-old is enjoying a nice season at the plate, hitting .262 with eight home runs, 13 stolen bases, and an .823 OPS across 240 trips to the plate. Since returning from the injured list, Mullins is 3-for-12 with three walks, a sacrifice fly, and a caught stealing across 16 trips to the plate. He'll hit in the leadoff spot and man center field Wednesday night in Baltimore.--Brenton Kemp

7 days agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins came ready to play during Thursday's season opener against the Toronto Blue Jays. Mullins had an ugly spring with only a .136 batting average, but this performance shows that those camp numbers might not matter too much. Mullins went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI during Thursday's blowout win. The left-handed slugger is looking to bounce back at the plate after slashing .234/.305/.405 with 18 homers and 54 RBI last season. After Thursday's game, Mullins is likely to become a popular waiver wire addition.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

6 months agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases in Wednesday's 9-7 win over the Yankees, preventing New York from being crowned division champs for a little while longer. Mullins had a dismal first half, slashing .214/.256/.373 with 16 steals and a wRC+ of 77 through the season's first 85 games, but has slashed .258/.370/.460 with 16 steals and a 142 wRC+ in the 54 games since. The 29-year-old owns a .230-18-54-66-32 line on the season and fantasy managers hoping for a championship will hope he stays hot for a couple more games.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

6 months agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins (neck) was unavailable for Friday's 7-1 win at Camden Yards against the visiting Detroit Tigers due to neck discomfort stemming from his collision on Thursday, according to manager Brandon Hyde. Mullins collided with outfielder Austin Slater on Thursday and was held out of Friday's action as a result. Until we know more on the severity of his injury, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day and check back to see if he's available on Saturday. Colton Cowser got the start in the outfield on Friday with Mullins out and went 2-for-4 with two home runs, two RBI, two runs scored and two strikeouts in the win. Mullins has hit just .228 (95-for-417) on the year with a .300 on-base percentage, with the majority of his value coming from his speed yet again with 30 thefts in 140 games. He needs five more steals in the final week to set a new career-high in that category.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

6 months agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers. The O's will play matchups here and have Mullins retreat to the bench against left-hander Tyler Holton. Mullins has picked it up with the bat in the second half of the season, but his biggest asset is his speed. The 29-year-old has 30 steals across 140 games this season. In his absence, Colton Cowser will cover center field and bat sixth on Friday. He has slowed down with the bat since his great start, but still has 20 home runs in 145 games this season.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
