Josh Jung Sitting Tuesday
1 year agoTexas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung will take the day off on Tuesday as the team takes on the visiting Detroit Tigers. The Rangers are giving Jung a bit of a mental breather after he went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in the loss to the Tigers on Monday. He has really been in a rut of late, with just eight hits in his last 42 at-bats (.191) spanning 11 games since June 15. Hopefully a day off will get him right again. Overall, though, the 25-year-old has been great for Texas in his first full MLB season, slashing .270/.324/.480 with an .804 OPS, 15 long balls, 15 doubles, a triple, 44 RBI and 52 runs scored in 321 trips to the plate over 75 games. With Jung sitting Tuesday, Josh Smith will get the nod at the hot corner and hit ninth against Tigers right-hander Matt Manning.
