MacKenzie Gore Piles Up Nine Strikeouts
1 year agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore was on his game versus the San Diego Padres on Sunday. The left-hander struck out nine batters, while only allowing a pair of walks in five innings of work. Gore gave up five hits in this game, but the only one that hurt was an RBI single by Fernando Tatis Jr. in the fifth inning. The 24-year-old was sharp and helped earn the victory over his former club on Sunday. He holds a 3.89 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 104/36 K/BB ratio across 85 2/3 innings this season. His next start will come against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.
