1 year agoMinnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison is embracing his role as the team's new No. 1 option out of the backfield. "I've been a lot more prepared in the way of understanding where I'm going to be at in the playbook," Mattison said during an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "I'm definitely comfortable as a professional athlete and understanding what I have to do to get the job done." Minnesota released Pro-Bowler Dalvin Cook this offseason, opening the door for Mattison to take over. The 25-year-old was widely considered one of the best backups in the league. But with Cook out of the picture, Mattison is now in the driver's seat and has the potential to surpass the 1,000-yard rushing mark.
