Nathan Eovaldi Ironing Out Mechanical Issues
1 year agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi said he dealt with a "mechanical issue" during his last start on June 20 against the Chicago White Sox that led to a drop in velocity. Eovaldi went six innings in that game and allowed four runs on five hits (two homers) while walking two and striking out four. Despite the drop in velocity, the 33-year-old right-hander said he felt fine physically, and the Rangers moved up his next start from Monday against the Detroit Tigers to Sunday against the New York Yankees in the series finale in the Bronx. The Yankees have been struggling mightily offensively without Aaron Judge (toe), and Eovaldi has been one of the best pitchers in the league this year, going 9-3 with a 2.80 ERA (3.11 FIP), 0.99 WHIP, 21 walks and 96 K's in 99 2/3 innings over his 15 starts. Keep him locked in your lineups against New York.
