2 years agoFree-agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins now has contract offers from both the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini. Hopkins is considering the deals while also hoping that more suitors will emerge before the start of training camp at the end of July. The 31-year-old five-time Pro Bowler is clearly in no rush to choose his next team after being released by the Arizona Cardinals this offseason. He's developed a reputation for not liking to practice, which could be an issue with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, but Belichick reportedly is open to compromising with Hopkins. He missed time in 2022 due to suspension and injury, but when healthy, Hopkins showed that he can still serve as a No. 1 receiver for a team.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 months agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins caught two passes for 18 yards and a touchdown in the 22-40 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The 32-year-old made his Super Bowl debut in his 13th season in the league. Despite finding the end zone, Hopkins did not do much to impress in this contest. The Eagles defense suffocated the Chiefs offense, holding them to 23 total yards in the first half. The veteran receiver also caught a two-point conversion after the game's final touchdown. Hopkins finished third on the team in targets and receiving yards, behind Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce. Hopkins was acquired by the team at the trade deadline and will be a free agent this offseason. It remains to be seen where Hopkins will land, but he demonstrated his ability to be a reliable WR2/3 on a competing team.--Joshua Costello - RotoBaller

2 months agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins did not have a single catch in the Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans. The veteran receiver was acquired by the Chiefs at the trade deadline and had an immediate impact. Hopkins' involvement dwindled as the season continued, and Xavier Worthy stepped into the WR1 role. The 32-year-old could be relatively uninvolved again versus the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game. Kansas City has centered its winning playoff strategy around running the ball and relying on a few trusted pass catchers. Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy are above Hopkins in the pecking order, which could leave very few opportunities for the veteran receiver. Hopkins should not be started in most playoff leagues and should be viewed as a touchdown-dependent flex play in DFS.--Joshua Costello - RotoBaller

2 months agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will face the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round of the playoffs this week. Hopkins rested in Week 18 with the rest of the starters, making it nearly three weeks since he last suited up. Hopkins played a consistent role in the offense following his acquisition at the trade deadline, but his involvement tapered off as the season went on. The emergence of rookie Xavier Worthy and the steady presence of Travis Kelce pushed Hopkins down in the pecking order. That said, Mahomes has still demonstrated trust in the sure-handed veteran receiver at key moments. Hopkins will also have to contend with a tough Texans defense that held the Los Angeles Chargers to 12 points and picked off Justin Herbert four times. The 32-year-old is a risky play in both DFS and playoff leagues, given his low floor, but there's still a chance he finds the endzone.--Joshua Costello - RotoBaller

3 months agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will face the Denver Broncos on the road in Week 18. In the past three weeks, Hopkins has taken a backseat as Xavier Worthy has emerged as the team's WR1. The Chiefs have already clinched the top seed in the AFC, so they have nothing to play for in the regular season. Given their status atop the league, Hopkins and other starters could be rested to save them for the playoffs. That said, Hopkins does have some contract incentives to play for if he does suit up. The 32-year-old could earn $500,000 if he finds the endzone this week against the Broncos, who rank 16th in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers this season. Hopkins will have to rely on Carson Wentz to feed him the ball since Patrick Mahomes is doubtful for this week's contest. The veteran receiver is ranked WR77 in our RotoBaller Half-PPR rankings, making him a desperation flex option this week.--Joshua Costello - RotoBaller
