Welcome to our PrizePicks PGA DFS prop picks for the 2023 Travelers Championship (Round 1). The 2023 PGA Tour season is in full swing, and to celebrate, PrizePicks has an extensive selection of PGA props to take advantage of! PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or singular stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best and easiest-to-win PGA DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit of up to $100.
This week, we're at TPC River Highlands for the 2023 Travelers Championship! Although this tournament has been played in Hartford, CT for over 70 years, the PGA Tour has designated the Travelers as an "elevated event" for the 2023 season. With a whopping $20,000,000 prize pool on offer, you can bet that the stars will be out around River Highlands, and we're surely in for another thrilling finish on this extremely volatile golf course. I and the entire Rotoballer PGA staff have put out 1,000s of words on the course, key stats, and field this week, so this article won't be focused on the minutiae of projecting outright winners or DFS pivot plays. Instead, I'll be solely focused on a few money-making opportunities I've found in PrizePicks' unique markets to help you build your bankroll as the PGA Tour season gets into full swing! Today's plays are specifically for round one on Thursday, June 15.

Harris English MORE than Tyler Duncan - Birdies or Better Matchup
A matchup so fishy, you'd swear it was a trap. But nope, PrizePicks really does have 2021 Travelers Champion Harris English matched up against one of the worst ball-strikers in the field over the last three months. Although a 6,800-yard venue like River Highlands would typically suit a player like Duncan, the recent form has been abysmal for the former Boilermaker. Tyler's lost strokes on Approach in four consecutive starts, and rates outside the top 100 in SG: Total, Birdie Chances Created, and SG: Putting over his last 24 rounds.
On the contrary, English looks to be completely over the nagging hip injury that ruined much of his 2022 season and is currently enjoying his best spell of play since that Travelers victory nearly two years ago. Harris's iron play has gained him over a stroke and half to the field per tournament over his last five starts, and the putter is as hot as anyone else on the planet. He most recently gained an insane 10.3 shots on the bentgrass greens of LACC - besting the second-best putter of the week (Patrick Cantlay) by ~2.5 shots. But perhaps more importantly, English has historically dominated on the unique greens of River Highlands: gaining at least 3 strokes putting in six of his nine appearances.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout MORE than Lanto Griffin - Birdies or Better Matchup
Similar to the matchup above, Bezuidenhout vs Griffin is another head-to-head between a player I'm quite bullish on heading into the week, and a guy that's been a dead man walking over the last few months. I went pretty in-depth on Bezuidenhout's 2023 progression in my Charles Schwab preview last month, but the improvements the South African has made in driving accuracy have unlocked a brand new style of course for him. Once one of the worst total drivers in World Golf, Christiaan now ranks inside the top 40 in fairway percentage on Tour.
With the driver now under control, Bezuidenhout has been able to more effectively utilize his two best assets: his putter and his iron play. In fact, when you combine his approach and putting metrics over the last 24 rounds, only Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele, and Wyndham Clark can boast a better total. That profile should work wonders around a venue like River Highlands, and with four Top 25 finishes already to his name at corollary courses like Colonial, Sawgrass, Harbour Town, and PGA West, it's very clear that Bezuidenhout has found a new home at these types of short, positional venues.
Lanto's profile is starkly similar to what we've seen from Duncan over the last few months - the only caveat being that Griffin doesn't have the same pedigree on these positional courses to fall back on. Between my four main comps (River Highlands, Harbour Town, Colonial, Sedgefield), Lanto has only made 2/8 cuts since 2020 and comes into this year's iteration of the Travelers on the back of 3 MCs and no finish better than 64th in his last five starts. Ranking in the bottom 20 in Birdie Chances Created, Birdie or Better %, SG: Putting, and SG: Total over his last 24 rounds, this is about as big of a discrepancy as you'll ever find in a one-round matchup.
Other Recommendations
- Jon Rahm LESS than 67.5 Strokes
- Patrick Cantlay MORE than Cameron Young - Birdies or Better Matchup
- Christiaan Bezuidenhout MORE than 36.5 Holes Played
