Michael Carter's Role Could Shrink As Season Progresses
1 year agoNew York Jets running back Michael Carter is still going to have a role in the team's running back rotation this year, but it could shrink as the season progresses, Breece Hall (knee) gets healthier and rookie Israel Abanikanda adjusts to NFL speed. Carter took a step back in his second NFL season in 2022, rushing the rock 114 times for 402 yards (3.5 yards per carry) and three touchdowns, adding 41 receptions for 288 yards in 16 games (10 starts). The 24-year-old will most definitely have a bigger role early on as Hall is eased back into a starter's workload, but Carter probably won't have anything more than low-end PPR fantasy value as more of a third-down, pass-catching back for the Jets. New York also still has Zonovan Knight in their RB stable.
