Braves Sign Jesus Aguilar To Minor-League Deal
1 year agoThe Atlanta Braves signed free-agent first baseman Jesus Aguilar to a minor-league deal on Tuesday. The Oakland Athletics released Aguilar in early June after he hit just .221 (23-for-104) with two doubles, five home runs, nine RBI and eight runs scored in 36 games for them to begin the year. The 32-year-old right-handed slugger will most likely report to Triple-A Gwinnett, where he will serve as organizational first-base depth. As long as Matt Olson remains healthy at the big-league level, the Braves probably won't have much use for Aguilar. He was an All-Star back in 2018 with the Milwaukee Brewers when he hit 35 home runs and drove in 108 runs, but he hasn't come close to producing similar numbers since.
