Andres Gimenez Remains Out On Tuesday
2 years agoCleveland Guardians second baseman Andres Gimenez (leg) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Gimenez was removed from Sunday's contest due to left leg tightness. The team had a scheduled off-day on Monday, but it appears Gimenez is still not feeling 100 percent on Tuesday. The Guardians haven't placed Gimenez on the injured list, so it appears he's considered day-to-day right now. Tyler Freeman will cover second base and bat sixth versus right-hander Joe Musgrove on Tuesday.

Andres Gimenez Launches Second Long Ball Of The Season
6 days agoToronto Blue Jays second baseman Andres Gimenez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk during their loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon. Gimenez went deep in the bottom of the third off Baltimore right-hander Dean Kremer. His two-run shot scored shortstop Bo Bichette. After going deep just nine times last season, Gimenez is off to a hot start in Toronto, launching two long balls in his first three contests. During this hot start, he has gone 3-for-12 at the plate with four RBI and a 2:3 BB:K. Gimenez has been batting cleanup during the first series, which has provided him with ample RBI opportunities. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring his production as he could eventually become a must-start option. On Sunday, he will face Tomoyuki Sugano in his MLB debut.

Andres Gimenez Batting Cleanup For Toronto On Opening Day
1 week agoToronto Blue Jays second baseman Andres Gimenez is starting at second base and batting cleanup in his debut with the Blue Jays on Opening Day on Thursday against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Zach Eflin at Rogers Centre. Gimenez has only five career at-bats against Eflin, but he did take him deep one time for a solo shot. It remains to be seen how often the 26-year-old will be hitting cleanup for Toronto, but it's a spot that will surely give him more run-producing upside in fantasy while hitting behind Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Anthony Santander. The Venezuelan infielder had a nice spring with a .283/.377/.543 slash line, .921 OPS, two homers, two doubles, two triples, 11 RBI, two stolen bases and seven runs scored in 18 Grapefruit League games. Gimenez should be in all fantasy lineups on Opening Day where he's rostered.

Blue Jays Acquire Andres Gimenez From Guardians
4 months agoThe Toronto Blue Jays are finalizing a trade on Tuesday to acquire three-time Gold Glove-winning second baseman Andres Gimenez from the Cleveland Guardians, according to sources. Gimenez should become a little bit more interesting from a fantasy perspective with the move to hitter-friendly Rogers Centre and a pretty potent Blue Jays lineup despite his struggles offensive in Cleveland in 2024. The 26-year-old slashed .252/.298/.340 with 63 RBI in 152 games played in his final year with the Guardians. Although his bat may not stand out among second baseman, his glove does, and Gimenez has also recorded back-to-back 30-stolen base campaigns. Gimenez will be a nice bounce-back candidate in Toronto in 2025 as an everyday player after sporting an .837 OPS just two years ago. Target his speed in drafts and hope that he can start hitting ball harder than he has the last two seasons.

Andres Gimenez Tallies Three Hits, Walks It Off On Thursday
7 months agoCleveland Guardians second baseman Andres Gimenez went 3-for-5 with a double and two singles on Thursday afternoon. Gimenez tallied his lone RBI in walk-off fashion as he scored Jose Ramirez on a ground ball to right field. The 26-year-old has been productive in the batter's box this month, carrying a .263/.291/.382 line with two home runs, three doubles, and five stolen bases. This season, the infielder has reached the 30-stolen base mark for the second-straight campaign while holding a modest .251 AVG. While his power production is inconsistent, fantasy managers should continue to count on the 26-year-old to be a threat on the basepaths.
