Sterling Shepard Says He's "Right On Schedule" In ACL Rehab
1 year agoNew York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (knee) suffered a torn ACL in September of the 2022 season. The 30-year-old veteran said he's "right on schedule" and he has been running and working on the side with trainers at practice. Shepard posted 153 yards and a touchdown on 13 receptions last season and saw 24 targets in just three contests. He said his goal is to be ready for the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, but we'll have to see whether that's reasonable once training camp begins. The Giants added Parris Campbell, Jalin Hyatt and Darren Waller this offseason, so the competition for targets should be much fiercer. In fact, it wouldn't be too surprising if he is cut, as the wide receiver room also has Wan'Dale Robinson, Isaiah Hodgins, and Darius Slayton. This will be a situation worth monitoring as the NFL season inches closer.
